After a hot and humid early summer the weather turned dry with some very high temperatures. On the eve of harvesting the phenolic compounds in the fruit were fully ripe. Leaf removal, carried out throughout the vineyard, made it possible to reduce the impact of the rain which fell at the end of September and to improve the structure of the tannins. |

| Harvest : from the 20th of September till the 7th of October | Duration : 17 days | |

Château Pontet-Canet 1999 - Tasting notes : Very intense colour. Extremely complex nose characterised by hints of liquorice, red and black berries, and vanilla. Very big attack. As the wine develops on the palate, it reveals an impressively powerful, long tannic structure, and very smooth tannins. The well-balanced finish is dominated by long, lingering aromas. A very great wine. |
