A year when bud burst was very early with heavy rainfall in June and at the beginning of July. August and September were very hot and dry (only 3.5mm in September) leaving time for a very long harvesting period in which peak levels of ripeness were attained. |

Château Pontet-Canet 1997 - Tasting notes: An intense red robe. Highly complex nose with hints of vanilla and cocoa as well as tobacco. On the palate the attack is very round. Nicely structured with extremely elegant tannins and good length on the palate. A truly enjoyable wine. |
