2001

After a winter with record-breaking levels of rainfall the vines benefited from rather dry weather conditions during their growth cycle. Temperatures remained at seasonal averages putting back harvesting by a week compared to the previous year. Our philosophy of “total quality” came into play even more than in the past – this year, the conditions surrounding every bunch of grapes motivated the choices made as we managed our vineyards.

The date for harvesting was barely influenced by the scattered rainfall at the end of September and beginning of October. The Merlots were harvested using 30% of the pickers. One of the two teams was halted before harvesting of the Cabernet Sauvignon was complete to take maximum advantage of the real Indian summer which had set in over the region.

Harvest : from the 21st of September till the 10th of October

Duration : 17days
